Forza Horizon 6 is bringing the Horizon Festival to Japan, and with it comes Horizon Play, the new unified multiplayer hub.

New Game Modes in Horizon Play

Horizon Play introduces several exciting modes designed to take full advantage of Japan’s roads, mountains, and cityscapes:

  • Touge Showdown – A 1v1 racing mode inspired by Japan’s legendary mountain passes. Players compete on five rotating winding routes, focusing on skillful cornering and precision rather than raw speed. These duels operate outside standard festival progression, so anyone can jump in at any time.
  • Spec Racing Championship – A competitive mode that levels the playing field by restricting all drivers to the same car with identical upgrades. Winning here comes down purely to driving skill, making every race intense and fair.
  • Hide & Seek – Previously a post-launch addition, this mode is now available at launch. Players either hunt down others or try to evade being caught, using the city streets, back alleys, and dense urban areas to their advantage.
  • Horizon Rush – A brand-new obstacle-course-style event type. Locations like the Tokyo City Docks offer thrilling challenges where players race against the clock, performing jumps, drifts, and stunts to complete the course.

Seamless Open-World Multiplayer

Beyond structured modes, Horizon Play integrates several multiplayer activities directly into the open world—no loading screens, no waiting:

  • Time Attack Circuits – Permanent tracks across Japan where players can compete against ghost cars from real players. Leaderboards filter results by car class, letting you see how you stack up in your category.
  • Drag Meets – Open-world drag strips for up to 12 players, featuring synchronized starting lights and split-second reactions that decide the winner.
  • Car Meets – Social hubs at iconic spots like Daikoku Parking Area. Inspect other players’ rides, download their tunes or liveries, and even purchase copies of their builds to add to your garage.
  • Horizon CoLab – The next evolution of EventLab. Up to 12 players can collaborate in real-time to design custom events anywhere in Japan, from creative stunt courses to competitive races.

Returning Favorites, Refined

  • The Eliminator – The popular battle royale mode is back. Now, all players start in a 1984 Honda City, and the mode has been refined for smoother, fairer gameplay.
  • Horizon Racing – Classic online races across road and dirt courses remain a core staple, offering both casual and competitive experiences.

Horizon Play in Forza Horizon 6 is more than just a multiplayer hub—it’s a fully integrated social and competitive playground. With new game modes, seamless open-world activities, and collaborative tools like Horizon CoLab, every type of player has something to enjoy. Whether you’re chasing glory in a Touge duel, evading opponents in Hide & Seek, or building epic courses with friends, Japan’s roads are ready for you.
